For our February event we were delighted to introduce 4 of our members for our popular 4x10 event where we have asked 4 artists do a short 10 minute talk about their practice. This Pecha Kucha-style event, previously run as 5 x 5, gave us the opportunity to get to know more about the work and inspirations of fellow members, providing opportunities to network and potentially collaborate. As usual, the event an showcased an incredible mix of artists which only goes to demonstrate the diversity of our artist network. BMN would like to say a big thank you to the four artists who took part in the event and Stephanie Grainger for managing the event so well.

The 4 artists taking part are as follows: April Yasamee was born and raised in London frequenting the major art galleries and museums. April has had art studio practices and exhibitions in London, Liverpool, Bristol, Italy and Australia. She studied BA Fine Art, Painting, using oils and acrylics. April has lived and worked in Italy for ten years; including as an artist’s studio assistant preparing gesso panels and oil paints. Influenced by the Italian Arte Povera movement; her practice has developed to include 3D paper and mixed media sculptures. April returned to the UK for MA Art History, at the University of Manchester, specialising in medieval materials and their meanings.

April is involved in artist groups across the South Coast, such as Hastings, St Leonards, Eastbourne, and Brighton. @aprilyasamee

Teddy Salad is an artist living and working in Eastbourne. Teddy’s work is with driftwood and other found objects. The theme of the work centres around the everyday, sayings, lyrics and references to subcultures. Teddy describes his work as Modern Folk Art. His work has been shown in various countries and many of his pictures are sold in the USA. Folk Art appears to be alive and well over there! Teddy is currently showing at the OxMarket Contemporary in Chichester and was recently selected for the Wales Contemporary, showing at the Garrison Chapel, Chelsea Barracks and the Waterfront Gallery in Milford Haven, Wales.

Tracy Jones is a multi-disciplined conceptual artist. Whilst drawing exists as the basis of her work, she enjoys the freedom that a broad practice brings, working with installation, found materials, and film as well as photography, which has taken a leading role in recent years. She responds to her obsessions in whatever medium seems the most appropriate, whether it's train journeys, conversations or the forests of Finland.

She is also the co-director of the PhotoHastings, a contemporary photo festival held in October each year.
