Artist David Blandy joined us for a talk about the creation of his new video work 'The Edge of Forever' and his current artistic practice. Artist Judith Alder introduced David and moderated a 20-minute Q&A with the audience, with an opportunity to view the exhibition towards the end of the talk.
This event is was in partnership with Towner Eastbourne. It accompanies the exhibition The Edge of Forever and David’s artist’s residency at the gallery from 20 September to 2 October 2022.
David Blandy’s works slip between performance and video, reality and construct, using references sampled from the wide, disparate sources that provide his (and our own) individualist sense of self. Collaboration is central to his practice, examining communal and personal heritage and interdependence. He has developed a gaming art practice writing original RPG’s and has co-written a graphic novel Out of Nothing with Daniel Locke for Nobrow.
It was great to see so many new people and BM members at this September event in partnership with Towner. You can watch another of his films that he spoke about on David's website here. Many thanks to Judith Alder for hosting the evening.
