For our final February event, we were joined by Sarah Norris who shared with us some insights into her role as founder of WIA (Women in Arts) which emerged from the debate on gender parity.
WIA Gallery is run by women, for women. Discrimination in the art world exists. Women artists have been undervalued, ignored and sidelined for too long. WIA Gallery will change this, one exhibition at a time!
As the Guerilla Girls say: When racism and sexism are no longer fashionable, what will your art collection be worth?
WIA Gallery opened a flagship space in Lewes on 23/03/23, at 3 Fisher Street, to showcase the work of contemporary emerging and established women artists. The Gallery will move online in January 2023 to concentrate on running pop-up events around the South East, including London. The gallery champions women artists, by showcasing work in galleries, press and PR support, and creative / business coaching. A big thank you to Sarah for such an inspiring talk; sharing with us her enthusiasm for why she chose the exhibitions put on, why they and the issues they cover are relevant now, and why it's important to keep moving to prove women's value in a patriarchal world.
