Towner Eastbourne
Our August event was an interesting talk by artist member, Ivilina Kouneva. Iviliana traced her roots in the Balkans through art, determined by the striking natural environment and social turmoils. The presentation touched upon fragments of Ivilina’s recent projects, juxtaposed with memories and influences, going back and forth in time and touching themes such as creative ‘hermitage’, immigration heritage, and artistic survival in an oppressive social environment.
Blue Monkey Network would like to thank Ivilina for providing such a facinating and well researched presentation. It was interesting to contemplate developing as an artist under a completely different cultural and political regime to our own.
