The Back of an Envelope Exhibition

The Back of an Envelope exhibition took place in September 2022 at Edgeland Modern in Newhaven with a selection of the envelopes that either appeared in or were inspired by our Blue Monkey Network online exhibition earlier this year. It was curated by Rachael Adams & Robert Littleford from Edgeland Modern.

The original open call was inspired by the Margaret Mellis exhibition at Towner Gallery, Eastbourne. Social media provided us with a huge potential audience and resulted in a wonderful response. Submissions came from far and wide with many takes on the Envelope format, exploring how the found page, the torn edge, the postmark, the public and the private surface of the envelope can be creatively used.
