Steve was born in Belfast and raised during the Troubles. Leaving home at 16, he studied Art and Design at Exeter College before earning a BA in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins.

His practice is rooted in environmental protection, working primarily with discarded materials. This focus emerged while working with an environmental charity, where he became interested in the stories embedded in waste—its textures, shapes, and marks. His work engages in a dialogue with the landscape, creating place-specific pieces or abstract expressions shaped by the materials themselves. Each piece explores memory, time, and human traces on the environment.

Beyond his art, Steve is an advocate for mental health, particularly supporting marginalized groups. He has mentored and trained individuals, using creativity as a tool for healing and empowerment. His belief in the therapeutic potential of art informs both his process and outreach.

At its core, Steve’s work is about reclamation—whether repurposing materials or fostering self-reflection through art. By transforming the discarded into something meaningful, he challenges perceptions of value, impermanence, and renewal.
